This October 2024 yoga, culture + nature retreat was a true gift!
I am grateful I had the opportunity to share different dimensions of our yoga practice, numerous elements of Sicilian culture and immersive nature experiences unique to this magical island that I have had the fortune to call home for the last five years.
We connected to old friends.
We made new friends.
We chanted mantra to elevate and align our energy.
We meditated.
We tabata tuesday’ed.
We did cardio to “I love myself.”
We vinyasa’ed.
We restored.
We nidra’ed.
We let go.
We ate fresh Sicilian food from the source with love.
We drank Sicilian wine.
We ate home made gelato.
We visited an active volcano – Mt. Etna.
We learned about the flora and fauna of the surrounding area while connecting to the land.
We experienced the healing and health promoting benefits of different herbs and flowers.
We got mosquito bites.
We celebrated a birthday!
We visited historical and breathtaking towns and villages.
We drank espressi, macchiati + cappuccini at Italian bars.
We experienced aperitivo culture.
We spent time by the sea.
We swam.
We climbed on rocks.
We jumped into the pool fully clothes.
We laughed.
We cried.
We hugged.
We hit each other with pillows.
We shared moments.
We created memories.
We took selfies.
We collected herbs from the garden and bundled them up to burn away negative energy.
We drove around Sicily in min-vans.
We observed the unfortunate piles of garbage.
We felt the warmth of the sun and the people.
We called an orange grove home for a week.
We picked pomegranates and persimmons.
We created our own little family.
We cuddled with kittens.
We acknowledged the elements and how they influence our mood.
We bathed in the light of the sun.
We witnessed the full moon.
We got rained on.
We woke up to Etna covered in snow one morning.
We ate bright green pistacchio butter from Bronte.
We journaled.
We reflected.
We lived.
We Yantra’ed.
We made Sicilian cookies.
We saw castles.
We visited churches.
We marveled at how much care went into making things a long time ago.
We were in awe of building facades, statues, gates, pathways, staircases, street signs, ancient amphitheaters …
We walked on lava rocks.
We walked on cobble stone.
We walked on marble.
We walked on old tiles.
We drank aperol spritzes.
We drank hugo spritzes.
We drank limoncello spritzes.
We fueled our bodies with fresh fruits and vegetables from nearby farms.
We bathed in the sounds of crystal bowls.
We felt feelings.
We fell in love with Sicila Bedda.
